I out smarted myself and now I'm stuck. I decided to step up 1 size in flexible hose for my next build (580G). Instead of using either of the 1" types of reinforced hoses I have plenty of (~124') I decided to splurge and get a 1 1/4" (100') hose that can't kink but still has a 3" turn radius (Newflex 1210335). All was good until I tried to insert my 1st hose barb. The hose is so strong that it is impossible to insert the barb! The ID is 1 1/4" and wont stretch at all. I took my grinder and removed the barbs down to 1 1/4" OD and I can force it in. I'm not looking forward to doing this for ~12 barbs for my 2 pumps, draining system, and filling system. Also without the barbs I'm afraid a joint may come loose. Any ideas besides expensive nylon or brass barbs?

I tried the boiling water and it softened all but the ridged plastic spiral so I only gained about 0.0001". I think this tubing is designed to survive an autoclave so it laughs at boiling water.

Get the connectors that are made for the pipe. Or you could get a pipe flaring tool used in the muffler shop. They sell them online to flair steel pipe, I don't think it would have any problem streching reinforced plastic/vinyl.

The narrower part of the tool goes in the pipe and you crank the nut at the top expanding the tool.

The flairing tool sounds like a great idea! I'll give it a try. Thanks. It is not flexable PVC, it is clear and much softer except the spiril and the site doesn't have fittings above 1". My bad for not looking before I got it.

recumbent. I think i know the hose you are talking about. I got some for free from my dad. its tough stuff i just crammed it in as much as i could till it would pull out or budge any more.. it was 3/4 or the way on and has not tried to come off. I actually had to cut it off last time I took it apart.
