depends on the size of the tank.....why not both.

Wet/Dry For Bio, Canister for Mechanical...

Your best combination would be a Canister along side a wet/dry....

On my 220 I run a Wet/Dry, Fluval FX5 and a AC110 :D

So true since they are so over priced in stores...

yup, getting both is the best of both worlds

a combination of both, a good canister for mech and wetdry for strong bio

Yup...5 Gallon Bucket Filters in a Rubber maid tub with a 1200 gph pump are cheap and easy.

On my 180 I run a two 5 gallon bucket wet/dry @ 1200 gph, A/C 110, and a Magnum 350 full of floss. I feel that it is under filtered and am considering another A/C 110 on it.

Canisters are terrible mechanical filters, as they are not easy to access. Mechanical filtration should be checked on at least once a week. To do that on a canister would be a pain. HOB filters are much better at mech. For bio, it depends on the tank, and the situation. Sometime a w/d is better, sometimes a canister is better.
