There was a baby, about 3 ", at our local fish store. He was really cute, but floating. I notified the owner, who was actually there today, and he poked him a little and he started swimming again, mentioning that he should probably have something to eat. About 5 minutes later he was floating on his side again and i gently tapped the tank and he started swimming again.

I would have bought him if he wasn't floating, I was looking for one that size. They also had some 5 inchers. The little guy was $50 bucks and the larger ones were $70. Not sure if that's a good price, but I guess I'll see how he is doing after a week or two, or wait til they get more...

Is this common in babies?

Nope aros should be not be floating on their side lol... hes probably a goner. and depending on where you live, $50 could be high. Around here 3-4" would run about $20-30, in sombrero like Socal is might be $10 or $15.

That's what I figured. The bigger ones looked really healthy, but yeah. I'm in NE and while this store gets them in from time to time, its about the same price. The store an hour away that is more reputable sells 6" for 70, so probably normal for my area.

$50/- FOR A 3' IS A LOOT. I had bought my 2" aro baby a year ago for $17.99; current size is 18 inchaes and still growing. Aro bodies are formed in full when they are 4"; so utmost care needs to be taken until that size; after which they become the strong monsters they are born to be.
