So I picked up a medium/large piece of driftwood from Driftwood Beach, near Sea Ranch, about 2-3 years ago. I power washed it a few times, soaked a couple times in a kiddie pool, had it sit in my garage for months at a time and today decided it needs to go in a tank. It will eventually go in my 240g but putting it in my 180g is easier since it doesn't have a hood.

So I put in my 180g and as I expected it floats and hopping it will eventually sink at which point I'll move it to my 240g.

But in the mean time, will the wood floating and pushing up against the center brace or glass tops ruin the tank? Should I be concerned or not? It is not moving around just stationary since it touches the center brace and glass top.

I'm assuming it won't since I doubt it can put any significant amount of pressure, but wanted to get some input from you guys.

Thanks in advance. :D

I don't think you have anything to worry about as far as damage. I would weight it down to get it waterlogged sooner.

i had a large stump wedged underneath the center brace in my 210. It took about a year and a half to sink. should be fine. i've also tied wood to the braces of tanks to get them to float.

Thanks. It's a bare tank so nothing really to weight it down.

Thanks. Maybe I should have put it in the tank when I first set it up about 2-2.5 years ago and it would be at the bottom of the tank by now.
