Dear All
I have recently purchased a FRT who has gone into my 200 gallon set up. Water temp is 80 with nitrate and nitrite levels low. Very well filtered with UV as well. He's around 8 inches in lenght and eating pear, but will not take apples or strawberries yet. Anyway, for a couple of days he's been floating at the top of the tank. I've never known this with these turtles before and I can't seem to find any similar problems reported on this site in the past. Can anyone shed any light? I assume he has trapped air inside him which is effecting his boyancy but have no idea how to treat. I've added a cup of salt yesterday but he's the same today. I perform weekly 50% water changes. I'm based in the UK.
Please give me your input.
Thanks
Pesch
