Floating Pellets Getting Sucked in Intake

When I move my aro into my 270, suggestions on how to feed my aro floating pellets without the pellets getting sucked into the intake? I don't want to turn down the flow, and I don't want to change the aim of the output since the circulation is how I like it now. Thoughts?

I built a trough out of 1/4 pvc to contain floating food until consumed

Put some of that plastic netting that some fruits come in over the opening.

I use suction cups and plastic canvas to form a wall above the waterline in front of the overflow.
