Hi, Im new to keeping cichlids, I recently got a 75 gal tank and put two frontosa's in it. I had some sinking pellets from my other tank that I was told would be fine for them. They ate them no problem. Today I went out and got some pellets specifically for cichlids. They are floating pellets and the fish arent going near the top to get them. Should I stick with these floating pellets?
thanks

I think most frontosa keepers would advise to feed sinking pellets. As a deep water species, frontosa natuarally feed around/from the bottom. They are also suceptible to a condition called "float". This occurs when they ingest too much air when feeding at the surface, and are unable to expel it all. The trapped air can cause them to literally float. There are many articles writtten about this condition and the possible treatment which ususally involves an attempt to pierce the frontosa's abdoment to let out the excess air. A search for frontosa float on MFK or through a search engine will provide the details.
