Water lettuce, water hyacynth if you have room, for cool water, water sprite. Also riccia and salvaninias. There are also rooted plants that have floating leaves such as dwarf pond lilies and pygmy japanese lotus, I like these.
Are those all seasonal or can they still be purchased, cause when I went to the store they said all of there floaters were seasonal and wouldnt have anymore for several months
I agree with guppy, however, I find the roots of hyacinths rather ugly ... they went straight from my tank into the pond. Much prettier from up above To his list, I would like to add Hydrocotyle leucocephala. Great plant. You'll find it in the submersed section, but it does much better floating.
That's a great piece of advice ... if you hate acidburn470 ! Duck weed is a pest. I would not recommend introducing it into your tank. It gets stuck in your filter intake, in your net, everywhere. And you have to remove it regularly, which is messy as well since it's so small.
Get some duckweed, and an apple snail, you'll either end up with a happy snail that eats all your extra duck weed, or a very large snail and no duck weed, and I know that they give it away for free in Greeley
