i currently have 2 floating plants in one my my tanks, riccia and najas grass. what i noticed is that the HOB would push the najas grass from the waterfall and sometimes have it stuck to the intake. i take precausions with the riccia by having a light mesh around it so it all stays in a bunch.
my problem is i want to spread out my riccia and keep it floating but im afraid it will get sucked up into to intake of the HOB. what are some ways to keep floating plants but not have them be disturbed by the HOB.
the HOB is on one end of the take and the floating plants (if not bothered) are on the other end (usually).

If you want them to be safe from the HOB you can either go with an internal filter or canister, or add a separator to the tank.
