hey i bought one of those duel flourecent housings from home depot for like 25$ and and have two good bulbs from my lfs. i was wondering if anyone out there has any extra duckweed or anything else they could think of that they could donate!! please help me out pm me if you can help me. or just reply with what i should ask my lfs to order

Easy floaters:
duckweed
giant duckweed
amazon frogbit
red root floater
water hyacinth

or you could go with something like hornwort or riccia

I personally don't have any of the above, I gave it to my turtle to eat. Try posting a WTB in the buy/sell forum perhaps.

Water Wisteria. Not a true floating plant, but great cover for topwater fish.

question concerning this response: Would it have to be rooted or is it okay to just let it float on top?

Water Sprite might be a better choice. It looks about the same as water wisteria but is a true floating plant but can be rooted.:)

java moss... i love the stuff, if you want to pay shipping i could rip off a fist-full and ship it to you...

i might have to take you up on that, I havent been able to find it locally, might not be looking in the right places......

Hornwort floats, grows like weeds, and doesnt need alot of light.

I had duckweed, and did manage to get rid of it, but it took weeks of scooping every little leaf I could see. Took hours each day to do. Big pain, but better than having the duckweed.
