Just wondering if it is possible to have floating plants in aquarium with glass lid and medium flow. I tried frog bit but the leaves rotted bec the water from the lid drips on top of them.is there anything else I can try? Can’t really have an open tank because my fish is a jumper.

I prefer Salvinia over duckweed.
Duckweed is small and gets everywhere especially in filter intakes.

There are several species that will grow floating. A lot of stem plants will work.

Hornwort grows floating and it doesn’t really come above the water line.
It would be a different look than the other mentioned.

As stated, a number of true floating plants, as well as unrooted stem plants would work. For me, the key is to use floating corrals to maintain in in the intended parts of the aquarium. When they are free to go everywhere they quickly become pests. Also, they need to be thinned out frequently as they growth beyond need or desirability. Nowadays I use mostly Salvinia or frogbit, in the past used duckweed more.

I don’t have a glass lid, but it is closed all the time. I use giant duckweed, not small and unsightly like regular imo, and it looks very nice, like mini Lily pads.

Try Indian fern. Ceratopteris thalictroides
Great at taking up additional nutrients and grows strongly each plant reaching anything from 2” diameter to 18” diameter.
Larger plants can also be grown submerged.
I use this on most of my tanks, especially the arrowana tank to make him feel secure and avoid him jumping into the cover glass.

i've done frogbits and water letuce in my tanks without too many issues. You have to get it started in a corner with lower current but once it takes it can handle the current. Not sure where you live but if you fill the tank a little less there should be no condensation on the lid. If your lid is wet then eventually it will be coated in algae/slime.

You can also float plants like hornworth.

Yes, all the time, except when feeding/servicing. 4 tanks, all filled to close to the rim, and with glass versa-tops.
