Last Friday my wife started a load of laundry and left to do some errands. We used to try not to, but with a new baby and both of us working it's hard not to. When she got home at 5:00, the washer was overflowing and the house was about an inch deep in water.
The washer had gotten stuck in the 'fill' cycle and was flowing around 10 GPM of water over the top. Somewhere around 2400 gallons of water flooded the house. The heating ducts were all completely filled with water and the underfloor insulation was soaked. I was lucky enough to spend Memorial Day weekend pulling out wet insulation, .91 tons in all!
Inside the house the trim has all split, including one corner of my aquarium stand. The vinyl in the laundry room and bathroom needs to be replaced, but the worst part is the hardwood floors. Our whole house is done in Oregon White Oak - I installed it and had it professionally finished. They will need to be torn out and replaced.
The only real bright side is that I will be upgrading my 135 to a Marineland 220!
I have been wanting to do it for some time, but the tank is plumbed under the house and moving it is going to be a major headache. Now that I have to move the tank I finally will get my 220.
