    how big do florida gars get? can i put one in a 155 with a bowfin?

Im not 100% on this, but I remember seeing that they will reach roughly 3 to 4 feet in lenght, so ultimately, they will need a bigger tank. If im wrong, I apologize but this is what I seem to recall.

20 inches in captivity is average..They however have the potential to get up to 36 inches. A 155 will hold the fish for sometime if it is one with a wide footprint. Bowfin and Gar are iffy tankmates. I generally do not trust a Bowfin with any fish once they reach the 13 inch mark.

Are you sure bowfin are legal in your state?

I wish they were in mine, very awesome fish.

But your 155 is a bowfront correct? I think you should have gotten a standard tank because bowfronts have wide ends and narrow middles.

i think you have it backwards? i though it was a wide middle and narrow ends?

Yeah, your backwords. I have a bowfront and I'm quite familar with them. Lots of space for a gar to turn arond in.

But he's got a 155 gallon, and hes supposedly getting a Bowfin aswell.

Thats going to be a pretty crazy tank in my opinion.

But Im enviouse as gar and bowfin are illegal in my state :(
