Florescent lights help

can I buy/use florescent lights from a local home depot?? Will be safe for my fish??

The color temperatures probably won't be the same, but there are people who prefer those over the lights meant for aquariums. As long as you're not trying to grow plants or coral then lighting is all personal preference.
