They are a saltwater ray. They get huge and they dont live in freshwater there whole lives. They are caught in the st.John river in Florida as babies the adults come into the spring to breed then the babys are caught. If you dont give them salt when they are adults they will die. These get huge too, im talking like a 6 foot disc, sometimes bigger.

Looks like an adapted saltwater ray. I could be wrong though.

i think they actually only get around 24" but pulcher is right... they need salt water or they secrete to much and basicly kill themselves from amonia spikes

Here is the reply from the seller after asking this.

"Does this get huge?" (ME)

"in the wild they get big, in a tank they wont get as big, it is the freshwater
atlantic stringray" (HIM)

Does the atlantic stingray sound right to you guys?

This SP does not get huge and will live its life in fresh water. Will need extra clean water as with most rays. much more active then the S.A. rays, but lacling the personality.

Great! I love it's shape enough that I was looking to bid for it. Would expect the ray to be overly aggressive toward, let's say motoro's...is bad to keep more than 1 sp of ray together? Is there a risk?
