i was wondering which of my fish is doing the killing, i currently have 2 12" oscars, a 13-14" florida gar, a 20" clown knife, 2 6" pacu, and a 10" pictus catfish. which of these would you think would do this damage to a goldfish? i dont think it is the oscars or the pacu, they were in the pond with the goldfish for a month without touching them.

looks like the gar too me...i cant quite tell from the pics but form the patterns and missing scales it looks like the gar could be ur culprit

the ones i found before were missing more tail, up into the meat, and the gill plate on the koi in the first pic is cut almost all the way to the top.

if it is the gar then im getting worried about my ck :( hasnt eaten in over a week that ive had it.

I guess its gar...

i had a pretty mean pim once, don't rule out the pictus

So are your predatory fish not supposed to attack the feeder fish? I'm not sure I follow. Why else would goldfish be in a tank full of predatory fish that normally eat them. If you are wanting them to live together in peace and harmony then I think you're going to be going through a lot of feeder (I mean) gold fish.

no im just worried that my clown knife hasnt eaten since i got it. i have seen the gar eat shrimp that i feed them, but not the knife. so i was hoping that the marks would be consistant to a clown knife and not a gar. i have plenty of feeders, oops i mean goldfish, that just keep multiplying, so i have to pull some out and throw them in with my not so community fish.
