Florida Gar eating freeze dried mealworms

I was observing the gar this morning at the surface and saw it snapping at probably a reflection. So I grabbed the freeze dried mealworms and threw a few in, the gar immediately snapped three in its snout. Has anyone else ever fed their gar freeze dried mealworms. Btw the gar eats pellets.

Gars would eat anything
But I am not sure, if feeding an insect with a hard exoskeleton to a natural piscivore is such a good idea
