just picked up a 12" florida gar yesterday, and all it seems to do is lounge around at the bottom of the pond. would this be due to stress or is this there natural behavior?

prolly a little stressed, will lounge at the top in a while. but gars are pretty inactive. if you want to increase metabolism, feed less but more frequently. increase temp too.

Gars are not particularly active fish anyway. He'll be fine - don't worry.

my gars hang out at the bottom of the tank all the time. its natural for them.

is currently 80-82 degrees. he seems to be doing fine just likes to lounge around. when he does decide to go somewhere he gets there in a hurry, or he sneaks to wherever it is. awsome fish.
