Florida Gar Knowledge needed

Hi i have a florida gar in a 150g tank and was wondering what are some good fish mates for it?? i was also wondering if a hap. milomo is compatible? thanks for your time

Bichirs are good gar tankmates, that and other gars. You want to avoid really aggressive fish, and fish small enough for them to eat, and silver colored fish like silver dollars or barbs as gar are attracted to the silver color and try to attack them.

You could post in the gar forum, you'll get better info in there most likely.

ctu is right. no cichlids! no catfish!!
stick with gars and certain lungs, certain rays and almost all bichirs!

Yep, South American lungfish are supposed to be good, I was going to get one but never did. I've heard African arowanas too...I put a silver aro with mine and I think he's the reason my gar broke his back

I think it depends on the gar. My FL gar is with a bunch of monsters includings, aros, odoes, catfish, rays, etc. and he is a happy camper that eats everything!

Same mine are with 2 Oscars and a bullhead catfish and others. Their doing fine, we'll see when they get bigger though.

Same here, all very bad gar tankmates but I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.
I got Silver Dollars, Plecos, Vieja and a red Oscar and there a strange but cool combo.
Mind you I got them all as lil' babies.
My gar and Oscar have become unseperable most of the time and are both handfed.
