Florida gar new behaviour

The title says it all. My gar has been acting funny for a few weeks . His eating slowed way down ever since I put garnet sand in my tank. Now, he mainly chills at the bottom unless I feed the tank. Then he stars following my ornate like in the video. Water parameters are as good as ever. No ammonia no nitrites and 5-10 ppm nitrates. Tank is on a drip system.

I personally wouldn't worry about it unless the Florida Gar started to bite the Ornate.
