Can I keep my Florida Gar with no heater? The tank will pretty much be at room temperature - heated and air conditioned (70-72F). The tank also sits in a window and gets some direct light. My guess is that the temp may drop some in the winter with drafts, etc. I think it will work, but would like to hear some opinions and experiences.

I removed the heater tonight to prep another tank for some piranha arrivals.

I can get another heater if needed.

I have no heater in the gar tank and I also live in OH, they have been fine for months. In the winter, I'll hook mine back up, but it's fine now.

No heater in my 180Gl, but my tank is well insulated.
When it starts becoming colder in autumn my temp will drop to at least 23oC.
But then the central-heaters in my livingroom will kick in for the winter and temp is back at 25oC.

i heat mine purly for infections and such. u dont need a heater. they live in the wild and water temps are sometimes 40s . dont subject urs to those temps just sayin
