Florida gar not eating at all

Ok so i had this gar for about 4 months..he was eating tilapia and everything was fine but now he wont eat anything. It happened 3 days ago he just would nip at the tilapia.

Today he bit the tilapia but wouldn't swallow it..he would just swim with it in his mouth then spit it out.

So i threw in some feeders thinking i just needed him to eat something and he wouldn't even budge at them.

Idk what to do..any help appreciated.
 
55 gallon(growout) hes about 5-6"

Tankmates- TSN, achara catfish and tetras and bala sharks.

water is perfect...and right before i tried feeding him again a did a 50% WC which is the second one this week.

I just read that catfish in with the gar could stress the gar out causing him to stop eating...

Is this possible?

I would ditch the bala sharks since gars and silvery fish are a bad mix. The two catfishes should be fine as long as they are small enough to not eat the gar, but they could be stressing out the gar if they aren't kept extremely well-fed. See if removing the bala sharks has any effect on the gars behavior; if there's not a positive change in behavior, pull the catfishes, too, and go from there.
 
I put the gar in a 20L with 2 baby peacock bass and im gonna see how that goes.

The worst of it all is i am leaving for vacation saturday for a week so i wont be able to see what happens...i am just hoping for the best
 
i have ten with my gar he's perfectly fine. he's one of this picky eaters that only eat if i put the silverside right next to his mouth otherwise he won't eat anything at all.. idk try hand feeding don't get bit though. changing thank would just stress him cause of new surroundings and he's just not gonna eat again
