Florida gar temp

My new 700 gallon pond is up and running but the heating isnt done yet and i was wondering if temps as low as 70 degrees would be ok. I know that it would survive but i want it to be active and eat as much as it does now...does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks

All my current gars except for the grow outs are kept in unheated aquariums. Temp throughout the year varies with the ambient temperature. Lows of 68ish and highs of 80. All gars remain active even in the colder months. This includes my Cubans.
