I’ve had a 100 gallon tank with a couple ciclids , dinosaur senegalus, 2 tiger shovernoses one under 6 inches one over , & a 6 inch Florida gar. They have always been together and been fine . Recently the larger TSN has been attacking and trying to eat the gar! The gar is the closer in size to the large shovel nose , there are a few ciclids under 2-3 inches and he doesn’t try to eat those HELP!

I would try to remove the offending fish and put it in a separate tank or container for a while. Or you could remove the gar and do what I mentioned before.

Yea I got that I was trying to avoid another tank set up they have been together forever it’s so weird . I was wondering if adding anything like floater plants would help . Thanks though!!!

You don't have to do another entire tank setup; just grab a large enough tub for your fish, leave them there for a day or two, and let things settle down. If you would like to, you can put an air stone or a HOB or sponge filter in the tub.

That 100 gal will soon to be too small for both the gar and the cat alone (the recent aggression is an indicator of things to come and both are just babies yet).
So although you don't want one, if you want to keep both those fish healthy and thriving, a much larger tank is in your near future (unless you plan on eating them before they outgrow the tank).

I don’t like to be that guy but in this case I will, your tank is way too small and your problems will only get worse
