Hey all,
recently did a photo shoot for the gars. I tried to capture some lesser seen moments like eating and breathing air, but didn't really suceeded. Here's the result anyway, hope you like it.
This is a pic wich I made during feeding of mealworms (actually for the aro). Funny thing about feeding mealworms is that the dark one eats them like crazy, but the other one can't seem to get the hang of eating them. So the darker one get's an extra treat when I feed them
I liked this shot because of the pose the gar had, a typical gar pose.
A shot just before breathing, made about 100 of these. The timing of a breathing shot had to be perfect for the real surface shot and it go's so fast, aah well, I liked how this pic came out anyway.
Another just before breathing shot, liked this pic because of the sharpness and the reflection.
Here's a shot just after breathing, where the air get's let out again. I was amazed to see that the air actually go's out through the mouth again . I have never seen a shot like this before so I thought it was nice to show it.
Here's a shot of the gar actually taking in (or out check the gills?) air. It worked out pretty well and as with previous, never seen a pic like this before.
Final one of the series, I know, unsharp, to dark etc, but I wanted to show it. It looks like it's gulping in air, although I am not shure.
Can someone say what is actually happening in the above 2 pictures? I think the fish is getting air in but is this actually true for both pics? Because they both different. If it's both taking in air I guess gars have two ways of getting in air or are the above two pics part of a sequence and if this is the case, in wich order do they have to be seen?
Hope you enjoy and I hope to get some discussion started about the gars there breathing. I am hoping to complete a series of the gars movements before, during and after breathing but this can take a while
Cheers Koen
