Here's a 16+ inch Florida Cichla that looks very mono to me. What do you think?

i would tell you but your pic is so bad i cant really tell, look kinda good

Please forgive the lousy picture. They're in a cheap used wholesaler's tank heavily encrusted with calcium deposits and scratches.

Folks who are in the know should be able to tell from the profile of the fish in front and its lack or presence of ocelli on the third bar, nothwithstanding the quality of the picture.

Thanks for looking.

Here's a pic taken with flash

Bars look like a monoc... to me, the speckaling high on the back is ocellaris. I see that one has a lot of blue in the fins also.

They may be evolving here. Almost every catch I make now involves speckled ones with bluish Dorsals. A couple of years ago, they had clear/translucent Dorsals and hardly any speckling. I think the bars have not changed much.

FL Hybrid but with strong MONOC features....I think theres a pic in one of the past MFK fishing trips of a pea that Jed caught that looks very monoc like with no speckling like an Ocellaris. I notice a lot of the Peas get stronger Monoc features when in breeding colors....but have seen both ends of the spectrum...

NIce!!!!
