When I got home today, I noticed my florida/spotted gar(6"~7") has a chunk of flesh ripped from the tip of its mouth.. I didn't know how or when it happened..
Will it heal? or will it stay this way for its entire life?
Pics:
it will heal, gars are pretty hardy when it comes to flesh wounds. the pics arent really clear, but at most there might be a little scaring, but i doubt it. just keep the water clean, bump the temp and if you want add salt and you'll be fine.
what tankmates are in there? looks like something took a bite at it or spooked it into smashing itself into the driftwood.
Asian aro, cray, flowerhorn(on the other side of the tank), senegal & ck.. All these are pretty peaceful though except for the FH.. maybe the gar is still getting use to the tank.. I'll be giving away the FH & cray soon..

how big are the tankmates? Aros tend to be jumpy, and fh's and ck's are generally bad tankmates for gar. but i'd say it's most likely that the FH is the one responsible. how big is the tank?
They are all around 6" at the moment except for the ck(3"~4") in a 65g..
Dunno if it's the FH cause it's separated by a divider from the rest of the fish(the FH is a serial killer)..
