After nearly 10 years in the great state of Kentucky, Ive decided Ive had enough of the cold, snow, allergies (consistently one of the worst places in the world for seasonal allergens and they hit me HARD), and the 10hr drive to the nearest beach!
Kentucky though is probably one of the greatest places on Earth if it werent for the things I said above, but I decided Florida was third best (after Alabama of course) so I could make due. Furtunately the area I will be in is actually considered South Alabama so hopefully it wont be too much different then the Old South Im use to.
With the recent housing market crash, I can more easily afford a newer and nicer home in Florida then I can in Kentucky right now. Funny huh?
I will be living exactly 2.6 miles from the Gulf of Mexico (1.4mi of that is a bridge) and I cant wait.
I am NOT looking forward to driving 700+ miles at 55-60MPH in a 17ft box truck though. Being all by myself it will be a long boring drive. At about 5MPG and $3/gallon gas its going to hurt the wallet too.
Oh well, the days of grilling fresh pompano from the beach or fresh red snapper sashimi of my uncles boat will make up for it!
