Hi; I've seen people fishing peacock bass & cichlids.
And midnight netting plecos and catfish.
But what else is out there in Florida?
Any arowanas and catfish?

They are all escaped/released pets right? Do people keep on releasing them, or do they actually breed in Florida waters?

Are tropical fish ANYWHERE in Florida; where are the best places I can find pet fish?

Also; are Southern CAlifornia waters warm enough to keep tropical fish alive?

Check out http://floridafisheries.com/Fishes/non-native.html

Some were pet releases, some escapees from the fish farms during the hurricanes, some were even released by Universities and Government agencies.

Find most in far Southeastern area.

Our ecosystem is really getting screwed up here.

How far South in So. Ca ?

Anywhere in the southern part of CA. I was wondering because I wanted to fish/collect if I ever visit!

in florida, would they be in both ponds & lakes?

also what is UF

lol. Just this week Superlaz saw a freakin TSN!

There have been aros caught before. I can see breeding pairs of Mayans literally every 15-20 feet!

It doesnt matter me, because they are my feeders, some growouts, some go straight into the Q tank. Jags, SH, plecos. You name it, its in my backyard.

Sorry, UF is the University of Florida...I doubt they released much since they're in Gainesville I just hate their football team since they beat mine...UGA so often.

well i deff. need to visit florida with my umbrella net sometime..

mayans, red devils, midas, oscars, severums, jewels, once saw a pacu, grass carp, walking catfish, convicts, florida gars, occasional alligator gars, peacock bass...

i believe that my gallery has pics of a jewel and pbass I caught in my back yard. Jewels I have about 100 trillion of, and that pbass is about average sized in my back yard. There are much bigger ones. I have seen 3' grass carp, and freshwater barracuda at my university.
