Monoculus ;)
I have water lettuce and hornwort floating in my 125gallon.

The tips of my water lettuce keep browning.

They are right under a 36" t5 (dual bulbs) with 6700k bulbs...so light shouldnt be an issue since the plants are less than 1" under them

Wondering if Flourish excel would help with this?

I'm not sure about the water lettuce, but that hornwort will spread like wildfire even under the lowest light. I had it overtake my tank from a single strand! Keep up with it

excel works wonders. it won't hurt to use and its liquid fert so it will help all plants as oppose to just rooted ones

Should I use excel or just regular flourish? Concerns be that the water lettuce keeps getting brown tips then yellow leaves and adventually dying..al though it is spreading like crazy hate seeing peices die

Excel is a Co2 supplement and Flourish is a mixture of micro nutrients and Potassium. their both totally different, i recommend using both...

the brown leaves and the dieing could be the result of a nutrient deficiency.

what are the specs of the tank?

3 cichla monoculus 4"
1 stingray 6"
1 clown loach 5"

Filter is full of biomedia....

Lighting is 2 36" dual lamp t5 fixtures with 6700k bulbs.

Substrate is sand....also some driftwood and a few large rocks in the tank...weekly 30% water changes...

I bet you are low on trace or iron.

A good csm +b or iron chelate based trace (like Flourish trace) would probably alleviate your issues.

Water lettuce requires a decent amount of potassium, and competing with the other plants may leave it in short supply.

Should I dose with excel and flourish?
