Flourish Excel removing algae?

I heard that if you over dose on Flourish Excel, it removes algae. Is this true?
I also heard that it kills moss, such as Java Moss. Is this also true?

Haven't heard about any algae killing properties, but I can attest to the fact that java moss does fine with it.

Anacharis though is destroyed by Excel, and Valisneria supposedly can have issues as well.

i tried OD excel to kill algae. It worked and java moss didnt die. But OD excel kills anarc and vals. If you search on plantedtank.net you can get a lot of info about this

I have read it melts vals.
Also have read of a few folks squirting it directly on black brush alge to kill it.
I only use it in my tank with anubias and java ferns.

Im using it on my 55G planted tank right now, in a low light planted system....IMO Excel can really give you the edge to having a nice successful planted tank. It controls the algae and helps the plants thrive...couldnt be better. Agreed with the previous about Excel having some affects on Vals...I have a mound of anarchis growing with normal doses of it tho. I dose Excel M,W,F so my doses are a bit lighter than some peoples.
