well i think the BBA got the better of me , i was dosing it after the first outbreak and it completely disappeared when i ran out of it . let it go without the exel and bam its back so i got more and put a double dose in tank to speed up the process without thinking about my fish and now i am having a massive die off . first it was my small catfish then my clowns and now my cichlids , after the first cat i did a 50% WC but it didnt seem to help so i started moving the ones i can catch to a 55 that is setup.
does anyone know what is killing them ? did i burn their gills or did the carbon suffocate them:(

It's possible they just don't have enough oxygen as excel is an oxygen reducing agent. Decaying algae could also be consuming tons of oxygen. If you used Prime it is also an oxygen reducing agent.
