Recently I was told to use Seachem's Flourish product to stop only what I can describe as Red Beard Algae. I however, don't know how often the dosage needs to be and will it hurt my fish.....(will post pics if needed)

http://theplantedtank.co.uk/algae.htm this is a link to a good resource on what algae you have. on the bottom it describes how much you should od and what plants it might affect. i am using excel every day on my 55 gallon to get rid of the algae im not sure if it will affect your fish, none of mine in my 55 seem to be bothered by it (cardinal tetras and shrimp)

What would be considered an OD twice the dosage and would it be everyday? Sorry I just love my fish and want to salvage what I can of my Anubias and don't want my new Bolbitis to die before it's time

Just as a side note, especially with the beard algae varieties it helps to directly apply the excel to the affected areas. Using a pipet if you have one is the easiest way to do this.

just to be clear, I think the theory is that you want to over-dose - - or dip - - in Flourish Excel, not Flourish

Seachem makes several products under the brand name "Flourish":

> Flourish is a liquid fertilizer
> Flourish Excel is a carbon supplement (sort of a CO2-lite)

there are also products like Flourish Iron, Flourish Nitrogen, Flourish Potassium, and Flourish Trace.

for what you are trying to do, Flourish Excel is what you want . . . note: some people have suggested that Seachem Prime will also help with beard algae

The root cause of BBA is lack of CO2. I had an outbreak in my 20L, within two weeks of dosing pressurized CO2 it has subsided.
