So I just picked up some stuff for my planted tank from this nice guy who was gettin rid of a lot of fish tank equipment. Along with it, since my lighting isnt strong enough (only have a 15w on my 20 gallon long tank) he also gave me a heal lamp type thing. It has what seems to be a regular flourescent bulb in it, but what I dont understand is that on the power cord for it, it has a plastic warning that says (The State of California has shown that this power chord has chemicals that can cause cancer, wash hands after use). Or something like that it says..... First off, is this going to heat my tank water up a **** ton? And second of all, is this something i should worry about when I touch the chord? Kinda scary! Gimme advice MFK!!!!!!!
Thanks.

really?

everything gives you cancer now days. ignore it. it's called a "disclaimer". meaning when you do get cancer (cause we all do, mostly from oh...everything) you won't sue them saying their light did it. they "warned you".

You'll be fine, you have just as much of a chance of getting cancer from lemons.

About the heat issue though, it depends on what kind of bulb. If its some sort of metal halide then yesh it will heat up your tank quite a bit.

If you are concerned about it, just sell it and use the money to buy a light you know won't cause issues. :) Twin bulb shop lights work great! :)

No, it DOESN'T mean that if you get cancer that you can't sue them.

It means that there is probably lead or another potentially carcinogenic material ACTUALLY in the cord.

Just don't eat the cord or rub it on you.

just dont goto california and you will not get cancer... i think its just the water there... probably what made paris hilton so fu##### stupid

haha. well this guy offered me a 24 inch metal hood with 2 lights inside it for about 30 bucks. How good of a deal is it, it looked nice quality and im assumin pretty expensive?
