My FH is about 2.5" and keep it in the 50G tank. I used overhead filter that outputs 2500 LPH on paper with bi weekly WC about 20% each. Now, I decided to make WC once a week, so I overfilter my tank by connecting to the powerhead that will go to additional media box. I just did it yesterday. In that case, in my opinion LPH is remarkably double up to almost 5000 LPH that is overkill.

My question is that is it to much flow rate for 50G tank? However, my FH didn't show any stress by overfiltering into its tank. Thanks.

Only real issue i could think of, is if your water has too much current and is blowing your fh around the tank. As long as thats not the case, i would say over filter the hell out of it lol. Soon enough you will need it with how messy adult fh are anyway

Thanks much for your opinion. So, I would agree on the fact that as long as the current in the tank doesn't disturb FH, it is good to overfilter. Anyway, I can make WC once a week on 25% basis rather than twice a week with 20%.

im using 3200L/h and doesnt push my fh all over the place i think should be fine
