Flow rate opinions please

My tank size is 56 gallons, dimensions in inches: 40x18x19

I had one fluval u4 running, which is rated at 1000lph or 260gph. I found that it wasn't quite enough, so added another, hence the total flow is now 2000lph/520gph.

There is a jd and convict in the tank just now, my own concerns are that the flow may be a tad strong for the Dempsey...am I being paranoid?

Make spray bars and it will spread the turbulence out.

Being paranoid. I have a 57 and 2 eheim 2217 that are about the same. Plus surface skimmer powerhead and I have an angelfish and ottos in there for now and they dont mind the flow. As long as your fish isnt breathing hard and stuck in a corner you are fine. Ive healed cichlids in my old sump that was well over 50x turnover
