Hi Guys,

A mate of mine is in the process of setting up a 12 x 4 x 2.5 tank and would like to know if a 50 mm bulkhead standpipe fitted in a overflow weir will flow enough to handle a 16000 LPH ??

I would want at leat 2 50mm/2inch bulkheads for a 16000lph/4200gph pump.

Gravity fed, under great conitions, you could possibly get 12500lph/3300gph per bulkhead.

Sure, you might loose that 3500lph in head height/friction loss when plumbing the pump, but probably not.

I have 2 inch drains for a pair of 2400 GPH pumps. Mine is a herbie setup, so 2-2 inch drains EASILY handle the output of the pumps under full siphon. And I have 2 backup/emergency drains. I COULD have used 1.5 inch drains I think.
