how do you alternate flow in a coral aquarium?

Sea swirls with K-4's attached instead of a return pump of closed loop
I have two of them and a 3600 GPH closed loop

also a VORTECH power head and controllable power heads do this also
Or put two sets of power heads on either side of the tank and put them on 15-30 min timmers to alternate back and forth!

tunze powerheads and a tunze controller to control random flow, also can use a tunze wavebox they are top of the line equiptment.

tunze's are the SHIZZZZ
tunze streams are smaller than the Koralias. But SOOOO much more flow.

hmmmm... i would really not prefer to increase my expense... isnt there any DIY or less expensive way to create a random or alternating flow?...

my bday is coming up this October and i hope a friend decides to finalize our agreement that she contact me regarding the pricing of her aquarium and stand xD then will i start my "darkside" journey HAHA


by the way... thanks again Mytee for the pic... im a visual type of guy and i usually prefer to know by looking xD your pict helped a lot!!! still... i gotta watchout for my expenses since i am not earning tons (yet) xD

point to powerheads directly into each other. you will get pretty random flow pattern if done right.


advice from one guy that cant afford a vortech to another(no offense if you can)

thanks for this reef... i thought i have to "drill a hole" through my tank just to install one (when or if i get one)... seems like "a picture says a thousand words" does not say this xD... interesting... are all VorTech pumps magnetically attached (just so i wont get this wrong)?

hmmmmm... my objective is still cutting or minimizing expenses...
