What sort of flow does everyone have running through there tanks? Are you using alot of powerheads or just relying soley on the canister/sump etc.

I have a spare mp40 laying around and wonder if it would be too much flow for stingrays? or will it be fine.

I run two 5" bubble discs, seems to make them happy enough. I try not to clutter the tank w. powerhead & etc. because they like to climb the walls of the tank.

Try it out and see if they like it. I would start low and observe.

You wanting to know about tank turn over or current? I target for 10 X turnover on my setups. My 200 gallon has a 80 gallon sump and I am running 2 mag 18 pumps. With the head I am getting around 2400 gpm. I do not do anything in the tank itself to increase water current.

I have 2 1300gph wavemakers aimed at the surface and aimed down, 1 Powerhead with a bubbler pump hose to it making a ton of oxygenated water, and my Sump plus Fx5 to return the sumps flow.

I run a Reef-flo Hammerhead (6000gph+) and an Iwaki 40rxlt (1000gph +/-), after the head about 4500-5000gph plus a huge pond air pump. No power heads.

I don't keep rays, but I have lots of high current fish (clowns, plecos, cats). I have 2 AC110s on each side, 700gph (after head factor) 1" sump return blowing into the tank, and an FX5 blowing out in the middle. Seems to make a perfect current for all.
