I have a 55 gallon fish tank with 2 flower horns. The male is 8" and the female is 4-5" both are mature and fertile. I've had them for 5 days and I don't really notice any pairing. I have a divider where only the female can pass through. The female seems more interested in the male then the male does in the female. There isn't much aggression when the divider is in the tank and mild aggression/chasing when I try to take it out. The chasing only happens after about 30 mins of taking the divider out. I've had the male for about 2 months and just got the female. They seems to get along pretty well but mainly like I said the male ignores the female, The temp is 84-86 degree and there is a flat stone on one side of the tank. I just covered the tank with newspaper today. I feed Freeze dried krill. Hikari pellet and fresh shrimp. Any advice? When should they start to pair. Also can I move the eggs out of the tank while they are in the rock. Thanks!

Keep the divider in so the female can get away from the male if he's being too rough.

Also, why is your temp so high and why are you covering your tank in newspaper? I would lower the temp gradually to mid/upper 70's.

You must keep the eggs in the tank. Thy constantly need to be fanned or they will develop fungus. When the fry have hatched either remove the parents or the fry to another tank.

let the divider in the tank where only the female can pass through
as soon as you see the male has done his thing, remove the eggs and put them in a separate tank
put an airstone on top of the eggs for constant aeration
good luck
