Flower Horn Breeding Questions

Hello people.

I have a few questions about Fh breeding.

Here they are.

1. Are flowerhorns promiscuous ?

i.e Assuming that my male is fertile,assuming he gets along with the ladies well, will he be able to breed with more than one female ? can i breed the same male with 2 other compatible female flowerhorns ?


2. I have no gravel in my tank. Just 3 DIY filters ,airstones and a King kamfa. Should i add a Flat tile or surface ?


3.My male kamfa is 6" and the female is 6" ,but the female is a bit bigger in girth. Can they spawn ?

4. Do i have better chances with a 4" female ?

5. When does the breeding tube of the female drop ?

They should only start breeding at about 10". When mature. What you do is put them in a tank with a divider so they can see each other. Once they reach breeding age the female will swell and that means she is ready to breed. Then you put them together. BUT watch for fights, there is no 100% guarantee they will breed. They may fight. 4" is way to young to breed.

if your females are of a zz strain they could breed young but ur KK might be infertile
he prolly not mature tho, you can always try. if you do get him to breed with one
female i wouldent try him with another because i prolly wont work and you might not be able to breed him with the first. but that is a chance, you could pull it off
i wouldent risk it but that imo.

huhhuuu...sad to know that...my 1st project only 4.5"....
