Flower horn breeding with Uro (False Red Terror)

Has this ever been done?

Just when I was getting ready to remove the Uro from the tank, I see she is laying eggs all over a rock. I thought she was a he because of her aggression.

The last week she's been swimming with the flowerhorn doing the little "shaking" dance. She is the only fish the flowerhorn does not chase around. When lights are off, the flowerhorn and the uro are always in the same corner (where the eggs are at).

Anybody know what this would look like? Or if the eggs can be fertilized by a flowerhorn?

there is always a possibility if the flowerhorn have sprayed or fertilized the eggs of that uaru...it may hatch.,..fingers crossed..

Yeah.. I just wonder what the outcome is. It will be an extra hassell to setup a new tank to have them grow out if they "hatch". But...if it will be something cool, it'll be worth it.

I'd try to grow them out. Sounds like it would be a cool mix.

Uropthalmus are awesome fish, I've got 2. I know for sure they could breed with a flowerhorn but I'm not sure if I've ever seen any mayan hybrids. I see on of stuff that looks like its been crossed with a mayan but it never is. I'm anxious to see what you end up with. I might have to make some mayan hybrids myself one day.

yes it has been done many time actually here is the best out come I have seen out of the different one's I have seen, and that is becaue most of the flowerhorn side shows

Looks like the red terror has the more dominant traits in that picture. Thanks for the info! I guess I still have to wait and see if the Flowerhorn will fertilize or not?

you are kinding right? Red Terror having to moe dominate taits the only thing there Terror is the stripes and a bit of the face but not much
