next to da beech... boyee
i had them to the point where they dug a hole in the gravel and reaptetidly twitched over the hole. now when i take down the divider they just fight. has anyonr else on here bred flower horns? how did it happen?
they are almost the same size the male is slightly smaller. when they fight the male does more damage to the female, but the female is so mean that she won't back down and wins the fight after 10 minutes

yea, mine just swam togather so i knew they paired i put them in to a seperate tank and cranked up the heater and they lay them nicely in a flower pot. i dont think theyll be having any action cause they male isnt dominant. i had a female like yours and she was a mean spycoat about 6inches, so i tried breeding her with my friends 12in flower and it worked.
My suggestion would be to try and get the male to grow faster so that he can be bigger than the female then try again. this shouldnt be hard if you toss him in his own tank for a while.

I am currently having the same problem only my male is larger, about 12 inches and the female around 7. At first, they were not too bad twards each other. The female seemed to take to the male very nicely, just wanted to be by him and would circle the pot, but after a few minutes the male became increasingly violent! I have had them separated by a divider for the last three days. The pot is on the female's side. I have removed the divider twice and each time it's got worse! The male became very aggressive twards her, but she will not even challange or stand up to him. What's worse though-neither of them will eat! They are usually pigs and now they won't go for any type of food! I think I might have to give up and move them back to their own tanks just so they won't commit suicide by starvation! Any help or advice please???

how long has it been since they have eaten? what size tank? sounds like we need to switch females.ha

when my red devil and flower had babys, the red devil killed his wife while i was at work! ive bred my friends flowerand mine togather and outta that fry i kept some got bigger and then the fry bred with my devil and i bought a gold fh about 2-3 monmthes ago and he hooked up with one of the other babys from our batch and now i have a tank full of redevil/fh and the goldfh/fh are still with the parents in my 55.

put that light grating as your divider and they will breed through it. place a slate under it and the female will lay eggs and the male will fert from the other side. sometime not all the eggs get furt but it works well for me

how long have they been neighbors? what i usually do is when both partners are aggressive i release them at night and in total dakness, they won't fight till the next morning they'll be swimming together. if this won't work, i put the clay pot in between the divider and let the female lay her eggs and turn the pot to the male side every 5minutes letting the male fertilize the eggs. have done this on instances when male is to aggressive to female. ;)
