my 7 inch "aaa humphead" flowerhorn has prolapsed anus. i know that this can be common with flowerhorns and intestinal issue. the difference here is that it only happens when it poops. he acts, looks, and eats fine. but every time he poops his anus prolapses then when poop falls off it goes back to normal. any ideas why or how to treat would be great. thanx

i only feed protein 2 times a week, the rest is spirulina. i've also already done the epsom salt.
shrimp pellets, spirulina tabs, raw shrimp from grocery store, i also make a lettuce/garlic mic that i puree and feed. occasionally give cichlid pellets from kens fish to break it up. the pellets, shrimp, and shrimp pellets are alternated and fed twice a week. the rest of the week he eats the other stuff. every few weeks i also like to not feed anything for a day or two
Stop feed ing for a couple of days. Let him empty his gut.
Then start feeding sparingly, and cut out the shrimp for a while.
Anal prolapse are usually tied to too much fat in food, although it does not seem to be the problem with yours.
As said, do not feed for a while and see how it goes.
