It is a poor picture but the dorsal fin tells me that it's a female. See that black spot/dot on it's dorsal fin...it's usually a female trait!!!oscarcrazy;2231087; said:I was just wondering if you think my FH is male or female? I know the picture isn't great but it shows body structure! Its the best I could get with the cell phone camera.

Lol..I use to sex fish knowing color, bodyshape and finage..but thats old school. These are hybrids and some people even goes far as to say the "kok" determines male!!! I have females w/ larger kok than male just to fing out..DOPE..he laid eggs!!! Now a days, these hybrids will have you questioning your balls..lol. I guess what I'm trying to say is, these hybrids are different and the first thing I'm use to when judging a "FLOWERHORN," sex is..1) Mark on the dorsal(No/Yes)..if it's there chances are its a female unless it has doulble row flowers(the top row flower colud moved up). If not, 2) Check vent shape(U/V) then 3) Body...not that great if females can resemble male..ie..KOK!!! and last..4) KoK or Finnage...By the way..if you have a pic of a male that has a spot on the dorsal Vittleking..show it to me?VittleKing;2231980; said:the black dorsal spot is not an accurate way to sex fish. Both males and females have this spot. In the older strains, more females had the black spot, but this is not the case anymore with the newer strains. I agree this looks like a female though judging from the bodyshape. Is the fish in with tankmates? It looks very beat up and stressed.
