I was thinking off get a flowerhorn thai silk and house the fish for life

But not sure what size tank to buy foot print

Help pls

Bonsais, short body or regular body? I've seen them housed in 65 gallons for life. Ideal bigger the better but that should be fine.

Preferably? 75 gallons or larger. But don't listen to what these tank snobs say. They can live in a 55 gallon for life. They are easily adaptable and live just fine in even smaller tanks. Odd shaped tanks are preferred. If possible. Ex. Hexagon, bow front, etc... pick a FH with a shorter body. They look nicer anyways.
Your kinda in the wrong place asking for tank size. Lol. MFK'ers will tell you the maximum sized tank possible... Any fish is happier in a big tank than smaller tank... Will you stunt a FH? That will be hard. They are like oscars. They will grow big even in a ten gallon, and live pretty long too. I've seen it before. Is it ideal? No. Ideal for a FH is if you build a nice pond and let them live not these monsters... With live food, mates, crazy waterchanges, etc... MOST, but not all MFK'ers are hypocrites. Ask them what they house their fish in... It's nothing compared to what they live in the wild...we keep our fish in pools compared to wild fish... Some have big tanks but look at the biomass. No argument needed... Just keep up with waterchanges for a healthy FH. It's s man made fish. Period. If your willing to do the work to take care of a FH. Get yourself the biggest tank you can afford/fit... And post pics! Good luck!

ehh i found that you can raise it in 10 gallons and if it gets bigger move to 25 gallons when it gets big move to 55 if it gets bigger 75 the end. if you put baby in 75 gallon alone it looks soo empty i did the mistake putting a 3,5 inch fh in a 75 gallons with 2 convicts it is soo empty

I keep mine in a 110 gal. tank with 6 corys and a pair of bristle nose plecos. The flowerhorn is about 4 inches now and rules the tank. As active and ornery as he is (chasing the corys) the tank doesn't look empty. Besides they grow extremely fast when fed a little beef heart, will fill the tank rather quickly.

raised my thai silk in a 30B for about 5 months and just moved him into a 40B and he seems very happy. He's maybe about 7" now and the most aggressive fish i've ever seen. 40B imo is a good home for your flower horn for a good amount of time.
