I think it's a flowerhorn. I got it from the LFS not a petco or petsmart. I have not read the stickies for the forum so I will probably catch hell for asking the most common question on here. But if it wasn't for simple questions there would be no use for an informative forum.
Male or female?

It's hard to tell from the pictures. There is no kok or hardly even one so might be female but I've seen makes with barely any kok as well.

Is that a blue acara with it?

He is still pretty small I know. I was just looking for some general ideas from experienced flowerhorn keepers. Yes that is a electric blue acara. Will be moving him soon. Flowerhorn don't mess with him. I wish there was a cut and dry way to sex at this age besides venting.I don't see a dorsal blotch either.

I did have a male key hole cichlid in there that was about the same size and the flowerhorn would not stop chasing it. Can you sex based off aggression?

No can't base sex on aggression. Not all flowerhorns will exhibit the black blotch on dorsal fin. Its a good indicator but not all will. Venting is the only way unless he pairs up with a female or she pairs up with a male you can tell then.

To be honest I would lean towards male on this one just by its structure.
Look at the stickies petsmart and petco have some amazing "red texas" "flowerhorns"

Looks like a male ZZ. His kok gene might kick in later so don't worry hes small.

I have a female ZZ bonsai. I can tell right away due to the blotch on the dorsal fine. I was kind of upset I got a female because the bonsai look cool with a kok but shes beautiful none the less.

Did you want to breed this FH? Show us a picture of the other flowerhorn

I want to breed flowerhorns but this is my first one. So I was seeing if anyone had an opinion on what sex it is. Then I can buy the opposite and start my shot at breeding them.

Oh okay. Another cool route is breeding red devil with the red head cichlid. That makes flowerhorns.

I was thinking crossing back to a trimac to get a little tougher dna. A Midas or a red texas would be cool too!

Any other MFK members have an opinion on the fish above?
