Flower horns with Frontosas ... will it work?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
someone was just on here a couple weeks ago that said his 3 or 4 inch flowerhorn was attacking his large frontosa. he said it was doing enough damage that he had to get rid of the fh. fh don't really mix very well it is even fairly hard to breed them without some injuries occuring. you could divide them if you have a big enough tank.

I gotta jump on this one, I used to breed Fronts before I swapped over to FH. There was a period of time when both type of fish co-habited in a 100g Tank. The answer is YES, they do get along pretty good, not a perfect harmony, but I can't complain. My FHs did respect my Fronts. Although from time to time, new king of the tank, FH, will pick on the Fronts, but there’s no serious injury between these two kinds. One thing to note, it was a Fronts tank 1st, then I introduced the tank with FH or FHs after. I wouldn't advise introduce a Front into a FH tank.

I was at the local fish store today and there were some nice Fh for sale, the guy told me they were Red Dragon Fh. I couldnt resist so it's now happily swimming in the tank, it hasn't taken much notice to the fronts at all. Hope all turns out well :)

Thanks for the advice guys.

no it won't work fh attack just about any tank mates even kill their own species so why would they tolerate another cichild?:banher:
