Flower pots & PCV pipe

I see in alot of pics, people use flower pots & pcv pipe as deco. Last time I got a piece of pcv and put it in my tank. The tank clouded. Don't know why. Wanted to give it another try. Is there any thing special I need to do to them before I put them in the tank?

no - i just rinse in the sink to get dust off...

all i did was rinse it off in hot water

be careful of cheap terracotta flowerpots- can be toxic. Spend the money.

Thanks for the tip on the flower pots, but as far as the pcv goes. I did that I rinsed it real well with hot water and it still clouded my tank. Unless at the time I had other issues going on and it was just a coinsidence that it happened like that.
