Just wondering if anyone currently keeping flowers (schroederi) or who has kept them in the past has/had any luck getting them onto pelleted foods, or even what foods they will eat. My two will only take nightcrawlers no matter what I try to get them on anything else. I've tried everything else and soaking other foods in chopped nightcrawlers, but they still will only eat nightcrawlers.

i had one start eating shrimp.... took some starving... in your case dont starve that female and let her bulk up on worms for a few months... maybe add some crayfish or snails to vary her diet

I used to had one. Ate market shrimps since day one, then suddenly stopped. I started feeding her nigthcrawlers, then mixed them with market shrimps and after a few days, he was eating market shrimps again.

I am very lucky with my female. She eats night crawlers, shrimp, ghost shrimp, beef heart, leeches, and I have seen her eat a couple of pellets but is not hooked on them yet. When I got her she was skin and bones and close to dieing. Maybe she has decided she doesn't want to be hungry anymore LOL!

Well just as of recent I got not only my flower but my tiger to eat frozen prawns. Both my flower and tiger are in with my leos which are aggresive food hogs. So I had been target feeding the Flower and tiger with tongs with earthworms right after I dumbed in prawns and pellets, so all the rays would be going crazy for food. I thought since the flower and tiger would reconize the tong as food I would start cuting the prawn in long strips like earthworms. Both at first would take it look like they were eating it but after I would find they had not taken it so after tring that for a while stavinging them in the mean while I when back to feeding them earthworms again, pain in the but! I started geting lazy and dumping them in with the prawns and pellets and both the tiger and flower would bully through with the leos and sort through and get a worm or two. I noticed that they would at least sample the prawns so I started cutting up the worms thinking that the more peices in there the more they might get fighting with the leos. Big earth worms bleed I found so I thought maybe cut the shrimp like worms cut up the worms lot and mix it so lots of the worm blood on the shrimp. With the worm pieces and blood soaked prawn pieces both the tiger and flower started to take prawn chunk and slowly removed the worms from feeding, now both eat prawns like crazy!!

Work has been crazy trying to finish off some big projects before the deep freeze comes and everytime I check out MFK I get the "I want bigger tanks and more rays :naughty: " virus lol
